1. On May 8th, Senior Partner Attorney Huang Xueshan, together with intern attorneys Qin Peijia and Lian Hui, conducted research for a state-owned holding listed company planning to invest in Indonesia and issued an Indonesian investment environment risk assessment report.

2. On May 9th, Senior Partner Attorney Huang Xueshan and Intern Attorney Lian Hui led the Landing legal team in India, assisting a domestic company with its limited liability partnership in India in addressing the GST tax recovery and further appealing to the appellate court. The Delhi High Court issued an order in May 2023, stating that there are statutory rights of appeal in the Indian Customs Law and allowing the enterprise to appeal to the Customs, Excise, and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal within 2 weeks.

3. In May, Senior Partner Attorney Wang Jianyong reached a joint venture agreement for a client with a hydropower development company in the Kyrgyz Republic on the joint development of 15 hydropower station projects in Kyrgyzstan. On May 23rd, the project team members were received by the President of Kyrgyzstan at the Presidential Palace.

4. In May, Senior Partner Attorney Wang Yunqing was entrusted by a Ningbo biotech company, a leader in China's pesticide industry in terms of production and export volume, to provide legal services for setting up a subsidiary in Bolivia.

In May, the head of the Global Executive Committee, Attorney Liu Yixing, together with Attorney Huang Xueshan and Intern Attorney Lian Hui, coordinated lawyers from the US, Hong Kong, and Germany to complete due diligence on subsidiaries in the US, Hong Kong, and Germany of a domestic industrial technology listed company and issued legal opinions.

10. In May, Shenyang Blower Works Import & Export Co., Ltd. reappointed the legal team led by Senior Partner Attorney Li Xinli as its perennial legal advisor. The company is a pillar and strategic leader in China's major technical equipment industry, and its equipment exports are managed by the import and export company. The import and export company has appointed Li Xinli's legal team as its advisor for two consecutive years, expressing high satisfaction with the team's professional and efficient services.

Selected Foreign-Related Activities

On May 9th, Shanghai Landing Law Offices held a seminar on investing in the Middle East under the Belt and Road Initiative. Senior Partner Attorney Hu Min presided over and delivered a keynote speech on "Overview of Law and Applicability in International Engineering Projects in Dubai, Middle East." Senior Partner Attorney Shen Xiaoming was invited to speak. Participants from various industries engaged in lively discussions.

On May 19th, Shanghai Landing (Changsha) Law Offices was invited to participate in the "Hunan-Latin America Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference", co-hosted by several Hunan provincial entities and co-organized by the China-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. Two attorneys from our international business department represented Landing in one-on-one meetings with numerous Latin American companies and related institutions. They addressed foreign-related legal questions raised by Latin American enterprises during their establishment and operation processes and explored deeper cooperation opportunities.

On May 25th, the first Landing Overseas Investment Legal Forum, hosted by the Luang Prabang city government and organized by Shanghai Landing Law Offices, was held in Luang Prabang, Laos. Several high-ranking officials from Luang Prabang, including the Deputy Governor, attended and delivered speeches. The event was organized under the leadership of Landing's national youth committee and was attended by Landing's global executive committee head, railway law experts, senior partners, and representatives from various government offices in Luang Prabang.

On May 28th, Yin Xiangnan, Director of Shanghai Landing (Changsha) Law Offices, attended the "China's Development Report on Foreign-Related Rule of Law (2022)" launch and the 3rd "Foreign-related Rule of Law Forum" hosted by the University of International Business and Economics. Senior officials from several governmental departments were present to give speeches and unveil the report.

On May 28th, the "China Electronics Enterprise Investment Survey in Vietnam 2nd Exchange Dinner & Vietnam Investment Senior Forum" was held in Hanoi, Vietnam. Yang Jiyu, Landing's permanent consultant in Vietnam, was invited and spoke as a forum guest.

In May, the annual DIRO conference took place in Stuttgart, Germany. Senior Partner Attorney Tang Xiang, together with team member Gong Lingxia from Shanghai Landing Law Offices, were invited to attend the conference in Germany. The theme of the meeting was "Impact and Opportunities of AI and Digitization on Legal Work."

In May, Senior Partner Attorney Wang Yunqing was invited to visit the Colombian Consulate in Shanghai & ProColombia's Shanghai office, the trade, investment, and tourism promotion office of Colombia. Both parties engaged in an in-depth discussion on current investment trends between China and Colombia as well as other major neighboring Latin American countries. They also explored plans for jointly hosting more in-depth events focusing on hot investment sectors and businesses in China and Latin America.
