01. First Entered the Mountains, Met Expectations

Wanshan District, Tongren City, Guizhou Province is located in the southeast of Mount Fanjing, the main peak of the Wuling Mountains. It is a transportation hub in southeastern Guizhou and is also a natural landscape resort. Tongren City has a long history. It has been more than 2,000 years since the establishment of administrative divisions in the Qin Dynasty when it was subordinate to Qianzhong County. Wanshan District was under the jurisdiction of Wuling County in the Han Dynasty, and it was included in Tongren Prefecture in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Wanshan Special Zone was established due to local development needs. After many changes, it was changed to Wanshan in 2011 with the establishment of a prefecture-level city in Tongren. There are many minorities.

On the morning of June 5, a group of 11 members from Landing (Xi'an) Law Firm, with the coordination and help of local friends, came to Minority Center Wanquan Primary School of Aozhai Dong Nationality Township, Wanshan District, to visit the children living and studying here.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, the Landing Xi'an public welfare team set off as scheduled. Along the way, there are green mountains and cypresses, blue sky and white clouds, worthy of the title of "Wanshan".

At 9:30 in the morning, the public welfare team arrived at Minority Center Wanquan Primary School of Aozhai Dong Nationality Township, which is located deep in the mountains. Through the introduction of the young Principal Yang, we learned that the Wanquan Primary School set up from grade 1 to Grade 6. Many local primary schools in villages and towns only have partial grades, and it is impossible to guarantee that children can complete all primary education courses in one primary school.

There are more than 200 students in six grades at the Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School. The children studying here include not only those from the nearby mountainous areas, but also children from other villages and towns dozens of miles away. Due to the rugged mountain roads, the children daily travel is time-consuming and extremely unsafe. The Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School was completely expanded into a boarding primary school based on the original scale in 2009. The school has carefully arranged dormitories and canteens for boarding students, and is equipped with life teachers who are responsible for the students' daily life. Over time, families who went out to work in the mountainous area gradually sent their children to study here, forming the current appearance of the Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School.

Principal Yang is introducing the teaching and living conditions of the Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School to the public welfare team.

The village-level primary school deep in the mountains has a regular plastic football field, which really makes us deeply admire the degree to which the local government attaches importance to education. It is understood that the district government constructed this plastic football field by digging mountains at any cost, and similar building repairs and new construction can be seen everywhere in Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School.
 

In terms of management of boarding students, Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School has established a strict boarding inspection system. The teachers in charge are on duty 24 hours a day to check each child's schedule and housekeeping. Ensure that when an emergency occurs, there will be special personnel to deal with it, so that children have sufficient and safe learning and living space.

02 Break the Ice and Integrate into Each 0ther

After getting familiar with the various facilities and basic conditions of the school, the public welfare team organized teachers and children to participate in "ice-breaking activities".

"Kids, do you know what a lawyer does?" "A lawyer is one who defends people in court."

We are amazed that the children in the deep mountains can very vividly describe the appearance of lawyers' work, and we have a lot of recognition for the comprehensiveness of the education they have received.

 "Kids, do you have an ideal you want to share with everyone?" "I want to go to college."

I want to go to college. This is probably the most anticipated and realistic vision of every primary and middle school child.

To support this event, Landing Xi'an prepared various books worth more than 2,000 yuan, including education, literature, history, natural science, art, sports, etc., and collectively donated them to the Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School.

At the book donation ceremony, director Landing Xi'an, lawyer Ting Liu, who is also the advocate and initiator of this event, shared her experience with everyone. As a child who also came from Wanshan, Lawyer Ting Liu wishes the children in her hometown to walk out of the mountains and go to the world in the future. To realize this wish, children need to study more in school, learn more knowledge, enrich themselves, and and achieve "Wisdom in Hold, Elegance in Mold". After making achievements outside, children should also actively benefit hometown and the mountains.

The public welfare team also prepared a number of group games for this event. The children present actively participated in various activities, and quickly established trust with the older friends and told us their stories.

03 Share Experiences and Communication

After the outdoor activities, the public welfare team and the children who are already familiar with each other gathered in a room to share our experiences.

Yichen Li of the public welfare team is an elite student who returned from studying in the United States, and is also one of the treasured friends that Landing Xi'an discovered this year. She told the children that if you have a dream in your heart, no matter what kind of difficulties you encounter, you must persevere unswervingly. She has worked hard to become a graduate of a top-ranked university in the United States, but in her professional field, the best and only goal has always made her obsessed, so she chose to continue her studies. Later, she became a member of Harvard University.

 As the name, Shuai Li, as a young man who has graduated from a domestic university and entered the society, also shared his special story. When he was the same age as everyone else, he developed a strong interest in reading. Extensive extra-curricular knowledge learning not only broadened his knowledge, but also imperceptibly achieved his communication skills and vision, all of which laid the foundation for his current competitiveness. He expressed his heartfelt wishes to the children, hoping that they could change their destiny through reading and become their ideal selves.

The public welfare team has sent bursaries to the children, and we hope that our love can help them, change them, and even provide them with more positive energy.

04 Hope for the Future

During the communication, the public welfare team proposed to Principal Yang that they hoped to provide long-term assistance to the Aozhai Minority Center Wanquan Primary School through the channel of Landing's public welfare team. Especially in the process of shaping children's values, we must continue to guide them to set correct life goals and work hard for them. Although the children are trapped in the original poor environment and geographical disadvantages, they all have a deep desire to change their destiny through education. We should carry forward Landing's public welfare spirit, protect their kindness and innocence, and, and keep them on the right track of life.

A visit and care may only help these children who are eager to learn to a limited extent. We are more willing to be a good companion on their growth path through continuous and long-term attention. While carrying forward the spirit of Landing’s public welfare, we will convey more love, shoulder the social responsibilities of law firms and lawyers, and benefit the public.
