In Feb. 2022, in order to promote the practical experience of undergraduates and develop students’ practical thinking and professional skills, Tongji University Law School(TJLS) restructured its original legal practice course platform —— legal clinic. Taking this as a starting point, TJLS invited government branches, judicial departments, arbitration institutes and law firms to jointly integrate the practical courses and tutoring resources to improve the standard of teaching.

LANDING department of Family Affairs and Wealth Inheritance appointed lawyers Ms. ZHANG Huan’e, Mr. TIAN Jie, Ms. GUO Xiping, Ms. JIANG Chunyan, Ms. HAN Huanhuan, Ms. JIA Xinyan and Ms. LIU Qing as extracurricular mentors to teach classes via the Internet. All of the mentors are partners and lawyers with years of practical experience in family laws. From Mar. 2022 to Jun. 2022, LANDING lawyers have delivered 10 informative and practical classes in forms of lectures.

Ms. ZHANG Huan’e started the lecture from the legal career planning of law students and the career path for junior lawyers, introducing the professional and comprehensive requirements for an expected law firm candidate and the developing trend of the lawyer profession. Mr. TIAN Jie, Ms. GUO Xiping, Ms. JIANG Chunyan, Ms. HAN Huanhuan, Ms. JIA Xinyan and Ms. LIU Qing all delivered lectures on litigation and non-litigation cases on marriage and inheritance, family business equity, family foreign properties, providing students with legal mindset and practical solutions. Their vivid and interesting cases won unanimous praises from students.

The lectures prepared by LANDING department of Family Affairs and Wealth Inheritance (Family Law Department) are not only welcomed by law students, but also gained recognition by TJLS. Therefore, Mr. XU Wenhai, associate professor at TJLS as well as the head of practical courses recently visited LANDING, and had a meeting with Mr. TIAN Jie, Ms. GUO Xiping, and Ms. JIANG Chunyan. In the meeting, Mr. Xu extended warm appreciation to LANDING Family Law Department and issued TJLS offer letters to 7 mentors. He also expressed the expectations for a long-term and diverse cooperation in legal practice teaching with LANDING.

As the teaching and practice base of TJLS, LANDING will establish new legal practical courses exclusively for TJLS students in the spring 2023. What’s more, both sides hope to reach a stable and win-win collaboration in other fields.
