On the afternoon of July 18, 2025, a seminar titled “Going Global: How to Avoid Intellectual Property Pitfalls” was successfully held at the Shanghai office of Landing Law Offices. The event was co-hosted by the Specialized Committee on Professional Services of the Shanghai Producer Services Promotion Association and the Shanghai Pudong Intellectual Property Financing Promotion Association(上海市浦东新区知识产权融资促进会), and organized by Landing Law Offices, a member of the Committee.

The seminar aimed to help companies systematically reduce intellectual property (IP) risks and strengthen compliance in overseas operations. It focused on IP protection and compliance challenges in global expansion, featuring case studies from leading companies in sectors such as energy and medical technology. More than 20 companies from various industries participated actively.

Mr. Wang Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Productive Services Promotion Association, delivered the opening speech. He emphasized that “going global” has become a major trend for Chinese companies, with intellectual property becoming a key challenge. IP-related disputes—including legal conflicts, market access barriers, and damage to reputation—are increasingly common. Since its founding, the Specialized Committee on Professional Services has drawn on the expertise of its members to help companies achieve high-quality international growth, and seminars like this are an important part of that effort.

Centered on the theme “Going Global: How to Avoid Intellectual Property Pitfalls,” she provided a detailed analysis of common overseas IP infringement scenarios, relevant legal standards, and practical prevention strategies. Using real cases from cross-border IP disputes, she introduced a three-stage risk management framework covering strategic planning before market entry, compliance review during operations, and effective response after disputes arise. Her presentation offered clear and actionable guidance to companies, especially as Chinese enterprises increasingly face IP challenges abroad.
