On the morning of April 11, 2025, a delegation led by Senior Partner Attorney Zhang Yijun of Landing Law Offices, together with Mr. Saad AlAzem, President of Saudi Apex, and Dr. Lily Zhang, visited Shanghai Jiushi Sports Development (Group) Co., Ltd.

Shanghai Jiushi Sports Development (Group) Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shanghai Jiushi (Group) Co., Ltd., which is itself wholly owned by the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. Its business scope primarily covers the planning, organization, and operation of sports events, venue and facility management, sales of sports equipment, sports agency services, ticketing agency services, and more. Mr. Yang Yibin, Chairman of Shanghai Jiushi Sports Development (Group) Co., Ltd., gave a detailed introduction to the group’s growth history and business portfolio. As Saudi Apex is preparing to undertake a number of national- and world-level sporting events in Saudi Arabia, including the Asian Games and the World Cup, it is actively seeking cooperation with Chinese companies that have extensive experience in major sports events. After multiple rounds of discussions, the two sides reached an intention for long-term cooperation and will carry out broad and in-depth collaboration across various sports events and related areas in the future.

On the afternoon of April 11, 2025, under the auspices of Landing Law Offices, Mr. Saad AlAzem, President of Saudi Apex, and Dr. Lily Zhang, together with Mr. Zheng Zhiqiang, Chairman and General Manager of Shanghai Eastday Vision Co., Ltd.; Associate Professor Cai Yan of the School of Journalism and Media at Shanghai University of Sport; Mr. Zhao Xuan of Shanghai Television and Shanghai Radio & Television Information Network Co., Ltd.; Mr. Wei Liang, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Dingjunshan Co., Ltd.; Ms. Guo Taomi, Chairman of Beijing Jinningju Sports Development Co., Ltd.; Mr. Liu Ye, General Manager of the same company; and Ms. Liu Xuejie, Chief Operating Officer of Shanghai Chuangzhi Space Investment Management Group Co., Ltd., visited Landing Law Offices and engaged in in-depth and friendly exchanges with Landing lawyers.

As the leading representative of the visiting Chinese enterprises, Mr. Zheng Zhiqiang, Chairman and General Manager of Shanghai Eastday Vision Co., Ltd., first introduced Eastday Vision. Shanghai Eastday Vision Co., Ltd. is a holding subsidiary of Shanghai Eastday Co., Ltd., one of China’s key news websites and a company effectively controlled by the Shanghai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. Eastday Vision has long been committed to promoting cultural exchange and cooperation, particularly in the international film and television industry. Mr. Zheng then introduced the Chinese enterprise representatives attending the event one by one.

Ms. Guo Taomi, Chairman of Beijing Jinningju Sports Development Co., Ltd., and Mr. Liu Ye, its General Manager, introduced the company’s story, development footprint, eight major operational directions, and event service capabilities. Jinningju has served events including the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 8th National Special Olympic Games, the 6th Asian Beach Games, and the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Since beginning basketball event operations in 2008, the company has executed 568 basketball events. Across all sports events, including badminton, table tennis, and athletics, it has delivered more than 1,600 competitions totaling over 3,600 hours. The company looks forward to providing event execution services for sporting events in Saudi Arabia in the future.

Mr. Wei Liang, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Dingjunshan Co., Ltd., introduced the Dingjunshan Film Technology Building, the National Key Laboratory for Digital Film Virtual Production, and the Dingjunshan Youxi Film Hotel. The “Dingjunshan Intelligent Integrated Film Projection System,” independently developed by the company, was selected by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee as a state gift. Mr. Wei expressed his hope of promoting Chinese film in Saudi Arabia.

Associate Professor Cai Yan of the School of Journalism and Media at Shanghai University of Sport, together with Mr. Zhao Xuan of Shanghai Television and Shanghai Radio & Television Information Network Co., Ltd., elaborated on the strengths of Shanghai University of Sport. The university’s sports discipline ranks first in Asia and twenty-ninth globally. It is the only university with a sports industry park, has incubated many start-ups, and has strong international communication capabilities. It has also established an Olympic Academy and maintains in-depth research and cooperation with the Olympic movement. Professor Cai expressed the hope that Shanghai University of Sport would have opportunities for deeper cooperation with enterprises at home and abroad.

Senior Consultant Attorney Zhao Chen of Landing Law Offices introduced leading large-scale Chinese drone enterprises and their related products, presenting the future of Chinese drones through an overview of corporate profiles, product categories, technical features, and application scenarios. He then discussed an anti-drone radar-photoelectric coordinated system, explaining the principles of its collaborative operation, its advantages, application scenarios, and practical cases. In addition, Attorney Zhao introduced Yixing purple clay culture in China, covering its historical evolution, scarcity, collectible value, and investment potential. He demonstrated that the Chinese purple clay teapot is not merely an object, but a bridge connecting the earth with art, and history with modernity. It represents a tangible asset with unparalleled aesthetic, historical, and economic value. After the meeting, Attorney Zhao also held an in-depth discussion with Mr. Saad on the potential investment prospects of purple clay in Saudi Arabia.

Senior Partner Attorney Shen Xiaoming of Landing Law Offices shared an Arabic resort project named Eastern Paradise City — a Saudi and Middle Eastern Theme Park. Unlike superficial “check-in” projects commonly seen in the market, this project is designed in a customized manner for different customer groups to create an immersive Middle Eastern experience. The project features a One Thousand and One Nights theme, including a business hotel, miniature landscapes, a themed theater, a float parade, a Middle Eastern-style marketplace, and desert entertainment attractions.

Drawing on Belt and Road policies and the example of Spain establishing a tennis academy in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Saad AlAzem, President of Saudi Apex, welcomed Chinese universities to establish table tennis academies, tennis academies, and similar institutions in Saudi Arabia, and also welcomed the hosting of sports competitions in the country. Mr. Saad expressed strong interest in all of the above projects and looks forward to deepening cooperation with Landing in the future to jointly facilitate the expansion of Chinese enterprises into Saudi Arabia.

At the conclusion of the event, Landing’s Saudi team and Saudi Apex formally entered into strategic cooperation, with Attorney Zhang Yijun and Mr. Saad signing the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

After the meeting, the two sides exchanged gifts. Attorney Zhang Yijun presented Mr. Saad with cultural and creative works inspired by A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains and Along the River During the Qingming Festival. Mr. Saad, in return, presented Attorney Zhang with a Saudi headscarf as a gesture of respect and recognition.
