Work Experience

Mr. Yu currently serves as a senior partner at Shanghai LANDING Law Offices. He holds a J.M. degree from Nanjing University and a LL.M. degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the US. Before practicing law, Mr. Yu served as the legal manager of a large domestic insurance company and as the corporate secretary of a Nasdaq-listed company. In these roles, he was responsible for handling the company’s routine legal affairs, compliance matters of listed companies, and external investment projects.
Before joining LANDING, Mr. Yu worked at Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, LLP, Dentons’ preferred law firm in China, for five years. He is specialized in professional areas such as foreign investment, finance and insurance, compliance management for listed companies, and corporate M&A. His clients include large enterprises such as SAIC Motor, Taiping Life Insurance Co., Ltd., Tian’an Insurance, Zhongyuan Bank, and Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd. He has received consistent praise from clients for his efficient and high-quality legal services.

Work Highlights

Represented SAIC Motor in the dispute of acquisition of equity against an insurance agency company under Huatai Insurance Group.
Acted for SAIC Motor in jointly establishing SAIC Motor Insurance Sales Co., Ltd. with Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai GM.
Provided comprehensive legal services for Tian’an Insurance in the acquisition of a plot of land for the construction of Tian’an Insurance Building in the Expo area in Pudong, Shanghai.
Represented Taiping Life Insurance Co., Ltd. in the case of staff rearrangement.
Represented Yintech in the acquisition of Jindashi
Represented STATE GRID Corporation of China in the acquisition of shares of XJ Electric Co., Ltd. through issuing additional shares.
Successfully represented multiple consumers in the disputes against insurance companies, with claim amounts ranging from tens of thousands to several million yuan. All cases filed against the insurance companies were judged in favor of the clients, with no instances of defeat.
