On November 4, 2022, Landing Law Offices (the Landing) and the Silk Road Law School of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (the SHUPL) held a comprehensive cooperation agreement signing ceremony at the global headquarters of Landing Law Offices in Shanghai. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from both institutions, including Hu Rong'en, Dean of both the Economic Law School and Silk Road Law School of SHUPL, and Liu Yixing, Director of Landing. Also present were Shi Qibao, Director of the Development Planning Department of SHUPL, Cao Yang, Deputy Dean of the Economic Law School of SHUPL, Shang Jiagang, Associate Professor of the Economic Law School of SHUPL, Ding Di, Associate Researcher of the Shanghai Global Security Governance Research Institute of SHUPL, Koshzhanova Baktygul, Associate Professor of the Economic Law School of SHUPL, Dr. Xi Jiamin, Executive Director of Shanghai Fumei Asset Management Co., Ltd., Xiang Qi of Shanghai Caoxi Law Firm, Executive Director Yin Jun of Landing Shanghai, Party Branch Secretary Wang Zhan of Landing Shanghai, Standing Committee Member Zhan Weiguang of Landing Shanghai, Standing Committee Member Gao Qiang of Landing Shanghai, Standing Committee Member Yuan Chunsong of Landing Shanghai, and Ms. Qian Jie, Market Director of Landing Wuhan (Preparatory). The event was hosted by Han Xu, a presenter from Shanghai Radio and Television Station.
At the opening of the ceremony, Director Liu Yixing extended a warm welcome to Dean Hu Rong'en and his delegation. In his speech, Director Liu emphasized that legal professionals should have a mission in this era, with lawyers identifying issues in practice and scholars resolving them in theory. He highlighted that this mutual exchange and collaboration lead to progress in legal studies. This agreement signifies an active exploration of both institutions to jointly fulfill their mission in this era.
Dean Hu Rong'en underscored the significant academic implications of this cooperation. He shared the immense value that higher education institutions bring to the construction of the rule of law. Recalling the naming story of the Silk Road Law School, Dean Hu reflected on the experiences of the Chinese legal community within the international legal service market. These experiences ignited his passion and expectations, driving the continuous development of the Silk Road Law School of SHUPL. Dean Hu expressed his hope that this cooperation with Landing would jointly embrace the new opportunities and challenges brought about by China's rise.
Following this, both parties engaged in a vigorous discussion on the specialized theme of the joint construction of law firms and universities.
Subsequently, Mr Yin Jun and A/Prof. Shang Jiagang, representing Landing Law Offices and the Silk Road Law School of SHUPL respectively, signed the comprehensive cooperation agreement.
During the meeting, Cao Yang, Deputy Dean of the School of Economic Law of SHUPL, delivered a special lecture on the ethics and regulation of artificial intelligence, attracting the attention of many lawyers at Landing who have interests in the field of artificial intelligence. The meeting concluded successfully amidst a strong academic atmosphere.
