On November 19, 2023, a new chapter began with the collaboration of Landing's head and branch offices in Shanghai. The Youth Committee of Shanghai Landing Law Offices invited Lawyer Huang Runsheng, Director of Shanghai Landing Law Offices (Wenzhou) and Lawyer Bo Shikun, Director of Shanghai Landing Law Offices (Hangzhou), to successfully hold a special lecture on the professional development path for young lawyers and the exploration of case sources and client services. The lecture was hosted by Lawyer Zhang Li, Deputy Director of the Youth Committee of Shanghai Landing Law Offices.

The event began with a welcoming speech from Mr. Yin Jun, the executive director of the Shanghai Landing Law Offices, warmly welcoming the two directors to Shanghai to share their valuable professional experience and insights with young lawyers.

In the current market environment, young lawyers face the challenge of how to expand their presence and provide high-quality legal services to clients using their professional knowledge.

Mr. Huang Runsheng, also the vice director of the Intellectual Property Professional Committee of the Zhejiang Lawyers Association and the director of the national Intellectual Property Professional Committee of Landing, shared his insights on the professionalization path for lawyers, especially young lawyers, based on his more than 20 years of professional experience.

He emphasized that the initial advantage of professionalization lies in the acquisition of cases. Excellent specialized lawyers never lack case sources. With their expertise, they can identify client pain points and propose optimal solutions at any time, thus obtaining many cases. Mr. Huang vividly illustrated this advantage through his personal experience. Furthermore, he discussed the advantages of professionalization in terms of fees, as highly specialized lawyers are more likely to win clients' trust and significantly increase their fee levels. He also highlighted how professionalization helps young lawyers outperform more experienced lawyers in terms of resources, experience, and expertise, allowing them to achieve success. Lastly, he emphasized how professionalization can create value for clients by helping them avoid risks while providing solutions.

Mr. Huang summarized six key experiences for achieving absolute professionalization: setting goals and embracing labels; maintaining the initial intention and persevering; broadening horizons and engaging in non-litigation activities; utilizing platforms and continuously improving; leveraging collaboration for mutual benefits; and taking proactive actions and never giving up.

Mr. Bo Shikun, also a member of the All-China Youth Federation and the Zhejiang Youth Federation, as well as an outstanding female lawyer in Zhejiang Province, shared valuable experiences in lawyer case development, negotiation, pricing, and customer service, focusing on lawyer positioning and marketing strategies based on her team's experience in commercial affairs.

How to accurately position the role of a lawyer?

There are many types of lawyers, such as expert scholars, social resource-oriented, social anxiety-driven, and multi-role-based lawyers. The essence of the legal service industry lies in providing professional legal services and solutions to clients and solving their problems.

How to view the relationship between lawyers and marketing?

There are various types of lawyer marketing, including traditional marketing through word-of-mouth and referrals, content marketing through professional publications and representative achievements, personal branding marketing through celebrity lawyers, event marketing through online and offline activities, and channel marketing through online platforms and personal IP. In the future, lawyers cannot do without marketing, but marketing is supplementary to the core focus on lawyers themselves. In other words, lawyers need to have strong professional capabilities to succeed.

How should lawyers serve their clients?

"Strong trust, high fees, excellent service, and long-termism." Lawyers should be client-oriented, providing comprehensive legal expertise and services to solve problems effectively. At the same time, they should maintain a minimum fee level while offering the best quality service to retain opportunities for future cooperation. By dividing tasks meticulously, lawyers can build strong trust with clients.

Based on their years of professional experience, the two guest speakers shared their insights and experiences on professionalization, case development, and customer service, providing valuable guidance for the professional development of young lawyers in the current environment. The participants expressed great benefit from the lecture. In the future, Shanghai Landing Law Offices will continue to invite senior professionals in the industry to share their knowledge, further deepen exchanges and cooperation, and provide professional and comprehensive legal services to clients.
