On October 13, 2023, the "Manufacturing Industry Going Global: Practical Issues of Establishing a Factory in Malaysia" thematic seminar, hosted by the International Investment and Trade Department of Landing's Shanghai Headquarters, was successfully held in the equal meeting room of Landing's global headquarters in Shanghai. The seminar was chaired by Lawyer Liu Yixing, Director of Landing's Global Governance Committee, and Lawyer Wang Xiaofeng, a partner in the International Investment and Trade Department, served as the main speaker. Director Liu Yixing first pointed out that in the context of globalization, China's demand for foreign-related lawyers is constantly growing, and the professional requirements for foreign-related lawyers are becoming increasingly strict. For foreign-related lawyers, continuous improvement of professional capabilities and deepening of field practice are crucial. The era requires more specialized and internationalized professional foreign-related lawyers.
The seminar began with Lawyer Wang Xiaofeng, a partner based in Malaysia for Landing, sharing practical experiences regarding the establishment of companies and factories in Malaysia. Firstly, Lawyer Wang Xiaofeng introduced an overview of Malaysia, covering aspects such as GDP, geographical environment, population and religion, political parties, economy, and law. Secondly, an analysis and interpretation of the requirements and preferential policies related to foreign investment access in Malaysia were provided. Information and property requirements for Malaysia's two advantageous industries, namely the hotel tourism industry and the logistics warehousing industry, were also introduced.
Subsequently, Lawyer Wang Xiaofeng provided a detailed introduction and sharing on the process for foreign investors to establish a company in Malaysia, compliance requirements, the licenses required for company establishment, and Malaysia's tax policies. In addition to company establishment, Lawyer Wang Xiaofeng also discussed the location selection for establishing factories in Malaysia, including the geographical location, infrastructure, industry chain distribution, investment policies, and the required approval procedures.
After the information-packed presentation by Lawyer Wang Xiaofeng, she also gave detailed answers to questions raised by participants both online and offline. She shared her insights and experiences working overseas, and the response was enthusiastic both online and offline. The thematic seminar was a complete success.
